How is tourism organized in Caldas?

Caldas es Natural is the department's official tourism channel. Behind every destination there is a public structure that looks after, organizes and promotes tourism, from the national level down to each municipality. This page explains that structure in plain language.

The four levels

National level

Coordinates the tourism policy of Caldas and guides the management of the destination.

Who makes the decisions

Departmental Tourism Council

It is the body that coordinates the tourism policy of Caldas and brings together the public entities, trade associations and providers of the department to guide the management of the destination.

Subregional Tourism Councils

Ordinance 988 of 2024 created one council for each of the 6 subregions, so that every territory has a voice in designing routes and in the quality of its offering.

Take part

Tourism service providers and citizens can take part in the Subregional Councils under the Ordinance. The call for participation is made through the official channels of the Gobernación de Caldas.

Secretariat of Development, Employment and Innovation

It is the office of the Gobernación de Caldas that leads the department's tourism policy and from which the Caldas es Natural program is coordinated.
